“To lengthen thy Life, lessen thy meals.” – Benjamin Franklin
Live longer the say.
Then they say to eat right and live, and that changes the game. It is strange that it is suggested to eat less than usual, to eat enough, and not stuff our belly with whatever food on sight.
It seems that from experience and from what we see, the best way to live longer and healthier is practice self-control. Why? When we have self-control, it is easier to say no to junk food, to manage the kind and amount of food we eat.
This means it is also easier to say no to our desire to stay in bed and skip the gym or go back to the chocolate cake we put down five minutes ago. Going to sleep on time? No problem. We would always think about how the body and health will benefit from what we do, and that is that. It becomes a matter of life and discipline.
This is not to say that we will become strict or that we will not enjoy what we do and eat. It is all the more reason to have fun, to be up and about, to enjoy and live life to the fullest. It is the best we can do, after all. The reason why we do this? The fact that living longer and healthier is possible when we do our part.
If you are not doing it as yet, try doing it now. You might be surprised how doable it is and how far you can do. When you start, you may not go back to your old habit. Living healthy may sound like a big task, and it can be, but if you make it a habit, it will be more than doubt. It will become a lifestyle to keep.
They also say that to live longer; you have to lessen your meals. It just means, in our point of view, that you eat as often as you like but you should not eat as much you desire. Small meals are okay, even when it is frequent.
The key is to be conscious about what you eat without being restrictive nor resort to deprivation. Not only is it unhealthy, but it is also going to lead to bingeing, and you will end up eating more than you intend at any given meal time. Don’t let this happen.
Remember, being healthy is something you deserve and something you earn at the same time.
